There were hundreds of mothers and fathers with children in their arms, literally handed over to the doctors and entrusted to me, with hope and prayer in their eyes. (Claudia Florio)

European Heart for Children was created to reduce the infant mortality rate due to CHD in countries where obtaining necessary care to save their lives is very challenging. With this goal, it organizes international missions to diagnose, treat, and operate on as many sick children as possible, thanks to the voluntary collaboration of cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologists, nurses, and technicians from important Italian and foreign centres.
Through specialized training, such as the Aesculapius project, and scholarships at the best European centres and universities, it aims to contribute to the establishment of autonomous healthcare professionals for the treatment of CHD in their own countries.
Finally, when needed and when possible, it provides financial support for the construction of paediatric units and ensures equipment and materials necessary for treatment of CHD.

Global Forum

In November 2011 in Milan it was decided to establish EHC Global Forum which is nothing more than a declaration of a friendly and effective cooperation among four organisations in terms of sharing forces to conduct missions, proper training and build medical units for the treatment of CHD in different countries.
The four organisations are: La Chaîne de L’Espoir (France), Bambini Cardiopatici nel Mondo (Italy), Chain of Hope (UK) and European Heart for Children.  They receive funds through corporate, individual, institutional or public donations.
The theme that unites them all is transparency towards their generous benefactors who can never be thanked enough.

The forum operates with rigorous principles. Once an area or a country in need has been identified, we establish contacts with local institutions (public hospitals, national cardiac societies, politicians, etc.) and professionals.
The aim is to promote medical missions and training programmes for doctors, nurses, technicians, etc. Continuous educational programmes, through missions and scholarships, are an integral part of the Global Forum programme.

The route we wish to follow is not an easy one, but we strongly believe that together we “can” and we “will” prevail. Together means more than 700 people who are involved in our various humanitarian activities, thousands of people who are supporting us but more importantly YOU, visiting our website. This outlines our success so far, our dreams and our future projects.
